Two Men Asked for Rehab Today

The table was set before anyone arrived. Flowers in a jar. Tea, coffee, and juice poured and waiting. Moshe likes to start with two cups of tea, one cup of coffee, and a juice.

The food was hot and the plates were full. But the thing we will remember about this day is not the food.

Two men, Akamola and André, asked to go to rehab.

By the afternoon, both were off the street. Tom took André to House of Victory in Haifa. We take Akamola tomorrow.

There was a third. Sadam was polite and joyful, and he too said he wants to go to rehab. He took Elias’ number.

Jerusalem Baptist Church blessed us with a number of care parcels today. The gift bags for the men held underwear, socks, deodorant, tissues, and soap. The bags for the women held perfume, jewellery, hair decorations, nail polish, wet wipes, and more. Each one was packed by hand, and you could feel the care in it.

Thank you, Jerusalem Baptist Church. What you did for the least of these, you did for Him, and it showed on the faces of the people who received your gifts. We are grateful for you.

Konstanteen was very happy to get his care parcel. Omer, from Turkey, was very thankful. Itshak humbly accepted his while playing the Carpenters on his phone for our entertainment. Dera was happy with her gift but did not want her face shown, and we honored that. Linda was overjoyed with hers but did not want to eat. Amit was not feeling well, but she was so happy with her gift.

Not every story turned today.

We found Benjamin in his old spot. He is not finished with the streets yet. His mother is sick with worry. We told him we would check on him every Monday and Tuesday, and he agreed. Please pray for him to get there soon.

We did not do this alone, and we never do. Days like today happen because people say yes and show up to serve. Thank you to Tom, Angie, and Marion for your help today. And thank you, Tom, for driving André all the way to House of Victory in Haifa. You served faithfully, the way the Lord asks of us, and a man reached the door of a new life because of it. May God bless each of you for giving your day to Him and to these streets.
